DPR Army units were withdrawn from Shirokino - Basurin

Units of the Donetsk People's Republic Armed Forces were withdrawn from the Novoazovsk district, Executive Commander of Corps of the Ministry of Defence Eduard Basurin said.

"By the moment that Sahanka got under fire, there were no units of the DPR Army in Shirokino", — Executive Commander of Corps said in the course of inspection of destruction in the village of Sakhanka caused by massive shelling from the position of Ukrainian military. Earlier Basurin said that the procedure issues of demilitarization of Shirokino are being discussed by the DPR authorities with the OSCE Mission.

A day before, on July 1 the official representative of the DPR at the negotiations of the Contact Group for the peace settlement Denis Pushilin declared that the People's Republic had unilaterally proclaimed Shirokino a demilitarized zone. The village of Shirokino, situated in between occupied Mariupol and DPR-controlled Novoazovsk is one of the most tense areas near the contact line.
