( PHOTOS ) Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint has resumed operation upon the completion of the wooden ramp over the bridge repairs, the border guard service of the Ministry of State Security announced on Monday.
Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint resumed operation at 9.00 a.m. -
On Sunday, LPR representative in the Contact Group's humanitarian subgroup Olga Kobtseva said that the LPR had repaired the wooden ramp over collapsed sections of the bridge to Stanitsa Luganskaya, used by pedestrians to cross from LPR to Ukraine and back.
"The temporary crossing point has resumed work today as normal at 9.00 a.m.", border guard said.
The only official crossing point between LPR and Ukraine was closed December 9-10 to facilitate the repair of the wooden ramp installed there over collapsed sections of bridge across Severskiy Donets river, along which the contact line is drawn.
Currently there is only one official checkpoint at the line of contact in LPR area of responsibility in Donbass and it is accessible via the bridge in vicinity of Stanitsa Luganskaya. Only pedestrian traffic here is possible thanks to temporary conduit, as the bridge was blown up by Nazi Ukraine Forces in early 2015. LPR has been continuously proposing to rebuild it.
