The Ukrainian Defence Ministry’s Thursday report citing Ukrainian Military Channel on the capture of ‘grey zone’ Novoalexandrovka village by Kiev forces is misinformation, because the village in question has been under Ukrainian control since active hostilities stopped, LPR People’s Army spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Andrey Marochko said.
Ukrainian TV report on ‘grey zone’ village capture is misinformation - LPR People’s Army
“Today, the Ukrainian Defence Ministry website citing Military Channel reported that Ukrainian servicemen took control of Novoalexandrovka village in Popasnaya district allegedly located in the ‘grey zone,’ Marochko said. In actual fact, Novoalexandrovka has been in Ukrainian-held territory since active hostilities stopped; it accommodates 108th separate mountain assault battalion of 10th Ukrainian army mountain assault brigade positioned 1,800 metres deep into Ukrainian-held area from the contact line,” Marochko said.
“According to People’s Army Command’s information, Ukrainian army has not advanced its forces and hardware or taken control of areas in LPR territory,” the spokesman said.
The statement can be viewed not only as run-up for Ukrainian offensive but also as media provocation to prepare the public for assault on this axis. The misinformation was disseminated on the day of the Contact Group meeting in Minsk, Marochko said.
“I would like to underline that these aggressive statements posted on the Ukrainian Defence Ministry website show readiness to advance beyond the contact line and the unwillingness to fulfil the Minsk Agreements. In this connection, People’s Army command will take adequate measures to stop Ukrainian army aggression in case of enemy advance,” he said.
